Headquartered in the city of Yekaterinburg, the Urals Instrumentation Plant (UPZ) was set up in 1918. Nowadays, it is part of the Aviapribor Holding company. Most of Russian and CIS airplanes, helicopters and spacecraft are equipped with UPZmade instruments.
The UPZ plant is a Russian leader in aircraft navigation gyros, such as gyro horizons, vertical gyros and primary data sources. The company manufactures computer units as well as fly-by-wire and integrated flight control systems as a whole.
The company has retained its skilled personnel and a wide spectrum of production capabilities. It features a complete development-to-production cycle for complex products, which made it a Russian leader in the field of medicine as well, to manufacture a range of iron lungs and enabled it to seize a beach-head on the energy conservation market (electric meters, energy registration devices), natural gas production equipment, etc.
