INDUSTRIA AERONAUTICA NEIVA SA (Subsidiary of Embraer)
Formed October 1953 by José Carlos de Barros Neiva; produced Paulistinha, Regente, Universal and related lightplanes of own design. Became wholly owned Embraer subsidiary 10 March 1980; factory area 35,700 m2 (384,275 sq ft), workforce 930 in 2002, following October 2001 cut of 270 staff. Previously played major role in Embraer general aviation programmes, including complete production of EMB-711ST Corisco Turbo, EMB-710 Carioca, EMB-720D Minuano (of which some 300 delivered), EMB-721 Sertanejo and EMB-810D Seneca IV (licence-built Piper models); also responsible since 1980 for total production of EMB-202 and now discontinued EMB-201A agricultural sprayers, and for components manufacture for ERJ-145 and Embraer 170/190programmes. Low-volume production of EMB-120 Brasilia was transferred from Embraer in 2001. Built 17 light aircraft in 1999; same in 2000; and 11 in 2001.
