The Boeing Company was founded in Seattle in 1916.
Currently Boeing is the world's largest manufacturer of commercial and military aircraft, and NASA's head contractor.
Boeing also produces military helicopters, defence systems, missiles, satellites, launch vehicles and their engines, spacecraft and telecommunications systems.
Boeing is the largest exporter in the USA with customers in 145 countries.
Today the company employs over 170,000 people.
The company is headquartered in Chicago.
Boeing in Russia Boeing was among the first American aerospace companies to open representation in Russia. The Boeing Research Centre was opened in Moscow in 1998, while a design centre, employing over 350 Russian specialists, was set up in 1999.
Russian experts from six other cities cooperate with Boeing on a number of programs.
Cooperation programs with the Russian aerospace industry include development and production of aerospace prototypes, new materials for the aerospace industry, flight safety programs, and assistance in establishing new transpolar routes. Boeing cooperates with Russian partners within the framework of the ISS program, Sea Launch and RRJ projects. Boeing also has close relations with Russian companies in the IT sector.
Boeing's investments in the Russian aerospace industry over the past decade amount to over $1.3 billion.
